I'M BACK AND I'VE GOT COMPANY

Hi every dog,

Been busy lately as you can see, so I've not got much blogging done. Had a bit of a surprise yesterday when a new boy turned up, all cute and fluffy, the nerve of the kid!

Anyway I've been playing it cool and ignoring the boy and to be fair he has not caused too much trouble so far but you can never tell with these youngsters, a toy here some grub there before you know it they think they're in charge.
I think I like him best when he's asleep, preferably not in Hazel's lap.

MY THEME TUNE

WOOLY BULLY

Apparently my nick name is the Woolly Bully, I have to say I think this is grossly unfair. It's true that I am sometimes quite vocal with my opinions but 'bully' me!

For instance if your clumsy human steps on you do you a) hold your paw up and whimper pitifully or b) stand your ground and do a full on bark to let them know how stupid they are. Well no contest really, they do need telling to watch where they're putting those big feet.

WOOLY BULLY - Lyrics

Uno, dos, one, two, tres, quatro

Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw.
Had two big horns and a wooly jaw.
Wooly bully, wooly bully.
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.

Hatty told Matty, "Let's don't take no chance.
Let's not be L-seven, come and learn to dance".
Wooly bully, wooly bully,
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.

Matty told Hatty, "That's the thing to do.
Get you someone really to pull the wool with you."
Wooly bully, wooly bully.
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully.

ALIENS IN THE GARDEN

This morning seemed to start normally enough Hazel & Laurie sitting in bed drinking coffee and discussing that the birds seemed to be making usually loud noises (there was some speculation that the sparrows might be jumping up and down on the guttering ) anyway I was only half listening until Laurie got up and dressed. Then we went downstairs as usual and Laurie let me out in the garden for my morning ablutions. Well imagine my surprise when I saw the aliens had come for me after all!
They were big and mean looking so of course I barked and rushed them (I'm so so brave), Laurie came out and for some reason insisted I stopped freaking out the aliens (which he insisted were really heifers - I'm not convinced).

WHO ARE YOU LOOKING AT?

HEY HE'S BARKING AT ME!

BETTER CALL FOR REINFORCEMENTS

WHAT'S ALL THE FUSS ABOUT?

Well it all turned out okay in the end, Laurie fetched the farmer and we persuaded them back through the fence into the orchard. This is not recommended as early morning exercise so please don't try this at home!

NOT GONE, JUST WORKING ON MY TAN!

Hi Every dog,
There seems to be a rumour going round that I have been kidnapped by aliens and have thus been prevented from blogging. As you can seen this is totally untrue, I have merely been perfecting my tan in time for the long summer days to come. Hazel has suggested that she thinks I may have over done it (she says pale is interesting, huh, she's just jealous). I would also say she has been pretending to be very busy at the office (where I also have a favourite spot for sunbathing just at the top of the stairs - don't tell the elf and safety police). I think this is just an excuse for being lazy but as I can't actually type I'd better keep quite.
Last night at one o'clock we had an earthquake and I slept right through it!!!! Does this make me the world's worst watch dog? It woke Hazel up, everything was rattling (Laurie slept through too, so that makes me feel slightly better). Tomorrow is their 21st wedding anniversary so I have to be on my best doggy behaviour (could be in for a few treats if I play my cards right). Off to bed now - have to keep up my beauty sleep.
Woofers

BUG SHOT

I posted this bug shot to show Simba the interesting bugs you get in France. I am hoping to go next year if the humans get my jabs done (ouch) and work out how to subdue my enthusiam in the car!

This chap was around 8" long, I'm not sure what type of lizard he is but he would probably be fun to chase!

Lots of walks, yummy food and sunshine - I can't wait (Hazel says she can't wait either as she's fed up with winter, rain and sore throats).

SO SO BORING!

Wow what a boring day, Hazel refused to get out of bed. Every time I barked a bit of encouragement she just groaned and said no Charlie my throats sore and then she coughed loudly and wouldn't move. None of my poodley tricks helped she stayed put all day. At least it's Saturday tomorrow so Laurie will be around to keep me entertained. I don't think the humans realise just how much entertainment a poodle requires each day.

Usually I go to the office with them but today I was told to stay home and look after Hazel, well I did my best but being leapt on by a woolly bully didn't seem to go down very well. What's a dog to do - humans are so complicated........

Hopefully normal service on the blog will resume when Hazel is better.

MEET THE PREDECESSORS

I have been asked why my humans could only be rescued by a poodle, well the answer is simple, they've got FORM! So I got them to hunt through all their photographs so I could show you guys their poodle history.

FIRST LAURIE

LAURIE AND BIM

Bim was a large miniature (if that makes sense). He used to take Laurie for a walk in the park and would quite often deliberately lose him (which is no way to treat number one son)!

WINIFRED AND THE BROTHERS

Laurie's mother and the laundry basket babes.

The brothers Sam and Ben all grown up.

SECOND HAZEL

Hazel sat on Nanny's lap with sisters Jane, Sheilagh and Carole with Debbie (a fiesty miniature poodle who lived with Nanny who was Hazel's Grandma).

Loved by the family, loathed by all delivery men!

LAURIE AND HAZEL

JAKE

Jake was inherited from Laurie's mother at the age of two, and what a legacy! He was a marvellous spirited friend who lived until the age of 16 (March 2005). They then had eighteen sad poodle less months before I rescued them in September 2006.

Finally I am starting a new game of tag - meet the ancestors and or predecessors. The only rules are that players may only tag one new dog blog at a time.

My first tag is the guys over at http://secretschnoodle.blogspot.com/

CHARLIE'S TALE

I wag and stretch, just like any other day,
But they turn away, they just don't know what to say,
In the car I look out at the country passing by,
It has to be done they say with unhappy sigh.
Out of the car in a strange place,
They dare not even look at my face,
Then it's into a cage and a signature given,
Out of the gate my people have driven.
I sit down and howl, oh why have they left me?
I don't understand, please come back and get me.
The day it drags on then into another,
Please come back I won't be a bother.
The weeks go by, one two three and four,
My pads they get sore as I claw and claw,
I hang my head because all hope is gone,
It's just no good and I can't go on.........
I lift my nose and heave a big sigh,
I spot a nice lady, she's just dropped by,
A poodle is the only dog it can be,
I bark right out loud, take me take me,
She looks down so kindly my heart it just leaps,
Oh take me home and love me for keeps,
All I want is a lap and a nice juicy bone,
I'll by your dog, please please take me home.
The ending is happy as I'm sure you all know,
My tail's always wagging as I love my folks so.

SPOT THE POODLE PART 2

Hey look at me practicing my rock climbing, I might need a paw up as it's difficult to get a grip. Hard to believe but when I first came out of rescue I wouldn't even climb the stairs. Now I scoot up and down all day in the office - piece of cake!

WHY DO HUMANS GET ALL THE BEST GRUB?

I got in to trouble at work this week. I was just patrolling the office in my usual efficient manner when I smelt something fishy so of course I thought it might be contraband and I'd better investigate. Upon further investigation which involved unwrapping some rather tricky tin foil I discovered a tasty tuna fish sandwich. Well I was just about to test it when Di said "hey that's my lunch" and it was snatched away. Talk about possessive, I work on the basis that if it's on the floor it's fair game (anyway it seems not all humans agree with this policy).

This is the sort of grub they make for themselves, huh........

OR THIS........

SPOCK WITH GRANDAD

When Grandma and Grandad bought their new sofa they said no doggies allowed, can you guess how long it lasted!!!

The handsome chap (don't tell him I said so) in the picture is Spock he usually lives with my human's sister and he seems to be making himself right at home ( I hope Grandma hasn't given him all the chicken)........Grrrrrr
